Birthday Cakes for Free, Pittsburgh PA had it's first order!

Every child deserves a Birthday cake and deserves to feel special on their special day. So I was happy that Birthday Cakes for free, Pittsburgh PA finally had its first order this month! Originally  I was just planning on doing one big cake for the December Birthdays at a local shelter but opted for three separate 6 inch cakes for each child!

                                                                  The Music lover

White Cake iced with Vanilla Buttercream.  Headphones and music notes!

                                                                The Princess

This was a very fun and cute cake to make. I made the crown and tiara out of fondant very easy to make. The rose was out of buttercream and after icing the cake I took a small precious spatula and made lines on the icing!

ChooChoo Train

Round trip ticket to the Polar Express! Originally I was just planning on doing primary colors with this cake but with it being December I thought it would be fun to to do a Polar Express theme! Buttercream cake with a fondant ornament and a Golden ticket!

A gift of sweets for a sweet stranger.

Most of my posts won't have a personal story, it will be me just doodling around with sweets. I will share what recipes worked, what didn't,  my passion of decorating cakes, brownies, cookies and so much more. The good with the bad... The more you practice the better you will become. I'm just a girl who loves cake!
So....I've been waiting for something special to write about for my very first post and well here it is....... It was Thanksgiving week and I was exhausted  from an over night 12 hour shift that I wasn't use to working in the first place. I was leaving the parking lot when I received a phone call. To make a very, very long story  semi short it was the bank teller notifying me that several checks have been written and cashed against my account. How could this happen? Shear panic set in. I immediately drove downtown and that's when it clicked! My new neighbors must have stolen my checks that I had ordered from my mailbox, boo. My heart sunk, how could people be so mean? When I arrived to the bank I had no idea what kind of mess I was in for. I was in tears, tired and confused the bank teller calmed me down. Her fast thinking saved me from what could have been an even bigger mess than I already was in. She was so kind and helpful, reassuring me that everything will be okay and those people would be caught! She totally went out of her way for me and although she may say she was just doing her job her kindness made an impact on me. How could I let her know how Thankful I was? I'd bake of course......Sugar cookies and Brownies, OH MY!

Mixing Sugar Cookies. I couldn't help but to eat the dough from time to time, whoops:P.

 I baked...
            I decorated...
                                             I gave...

A gift of sweets for a sweet stranger. Present brownies, candy canes and snowflake sugar cookies in a Santa basket ( Holiday basket purchased from Michaels half off, heck yeah) ready to be eaten! Yum!!! When in doubt, bake. I  always try to find  the positive in a negative situation. Happy Baking.:)
